Jono Hornblow Memorial Grand Prix

On Saturday 25th July 2026, Haus Race Team will host a very special edition of our Grand Prix at Darley Moor: The Jono Hornblow Memorial Grand Prix.

This one is a little different.

Our events are usually built around fast racing, full fields, questionable weather forecasts and the usual bit of Haus nonsense. This day will still have all the things that make Darley Moor special, but it will also mean a lot more to us.

Earlier this year, we lost our friend Jono Hornblow. Jono was a much-loved part of the local racing community and someone who had a real connection with Darley Moor. He raced there, supported racing there, and was part of the fabric of the scene that makes the place feel like home for so many riders, volunteers, officials, families and friends.

So, when we started planning our full-day Grand Prix for 2026, it felt only right that the event should carry his name.

A full day of racing at Darley Moor

The Jono Hornblow Memorial Grand Prix will be held at Darley Moor Sports Centre, Ashbourne, on Saturday 25th July 2026.

The format is designed to test every part of a rider’s ability across the day, with three separate events making up the overall competition:

9:30am – Sprint Race
A fast, aggressive opener for the riders who like to get stuck in from the flag.

11:00am – Time Trial
Solo effort. No hiding. No wheels to sit on. Just pacing, power and suffering.

2:00pm – Endurance Race
The big one to finish the day. Ninety minutes where tactics, legs, teamwork and stubbornness will all come into play.

Riders will compete as individuals for British Cycling ranking points, with prizes awarded to the best overall riders across the day, alongside additional prizes for teams and individuals.

As per the British Cycling listing, this is a Regional C+ closed-circuit event, open to all categories. Only road bikes are allowed, so no TT bikes or clip-on bars. Helmets need to be suitable for closed-circuit racing too, which sadly means leaving the full Star Wars time trial setup at home.

More than just a race

While the racing will be the centrepiece, this event is about more than results.

We want the day to be a celebration of Jono, of Darley Moor, and of the racing community he was part of. We’ll be adding more to the proceedings as the event develops, and we’ll share those details as soon as they’re confirmed.

There will also be a raffle on the day to help raise funds, and we’re currently looking for brands, businesses and individuals who would be willing to donate prizes.

If you can help, or if you know someone who might be able to support the raffle, we’d love to hear from you. Cycling kit, vouchers, bike bits, coffee, experiences, services, local business prizes, anything that could help us put together a brilliant prize table would be hugely appreciated.

Every contribution, big or small, will help us make the day more special.

Why Darley Moor

Darley Moor has become home for Haus Race Team. It’s where we’ve built our crit league, where riders have returned month after month, and where we’ve watched the local racing scene continue to grow.

It was also a place Jono loved.

That makes this event feel fitting. A full day at Darley. A proper racing challenge. A chance for people to come together, race hard, remember Jono, and do something positive in his name.

We know it will be an emotional day, but we also want it to be a good day. A day full of racing, stories, familiar faces, and the kind of community that keeps people coming back to this sport.

Entry

Entry is via the British Cycling website.

The event is listed as The Jono Hornblow Memorial Trophy, promoted by Haus Race Team. Riders only need to enter the first event listed as Haus GP; the individual Sprint, TT and Endurance events are listed separately for organisational purposes.

Online entry is open now, with entries closing in July.

We’ll share more details over the coming weeks and months as the day takes shape.

For now, please save the date, spread the word, enter (click here) if you’re racing, and get in touch if you can support the raffle.
